Privacy Policy


The Board of Directors of Commercial State Bank recognizes that the basis of our relationship with you is trust.  As your financial institution, we are entrusted with sensitive financial information and we know that you have an expectation of privacy in your dealings with us.  We respect your privacy and are committed to treating your information responsibly.  This will be ensured through the privacy policy outlined below.



Use, Collection, and Retention of Customer Information

We collect, retain, and use nonpublic personal information about you in instances where we reasonably believe that it will help administer our business or provide products, services, and other opportunities to you.  We collect this information from the following sources:

• Information received from you on applications or other forms;
• Information about your transactions with us (such as information about a deposit, loan or credit card account);
• Information received from consumer reporting agencies.

We collect and retain this information only for specific business purposes.  This information is used to protect and administer your records, accounts, and funds; to comply with certain laws and regulations; to help us design or improve our products and services; and to understand your financial needs.  We may share the customer information that we collect with administrative and service units that perform functions such as servicing customer transactions and account processing functions.

We do not disclose any non-public personal information about our customers to anyone, except as authorized by law.  In this regard, internal controls have been implemented to assure compliance.

 Maintenance of Accurate Information:

We endeavor to maintain the most accurate and up-to-date customer records possible.  If you find that your account information is not correct, current, or complete, please contact our customer service department at (432) 523-3440 and appropriate corrections will be made as quickly as possible.  We have procedures in place for updating our customer information as well as removing old information through such measures as:

  • Maintaining backup copies of account data in the event of power outages or other business interruptions;
  • Using computer virus detection and eradication software on systems containing customer data;
  • Installing customer hardware and software and employing other technical means (such as the use of "firewalls") to prevent unauthorized computer entry into systems containing customer identification.


 Employee Access and Use of Customer Information:

We limit employee access to confidential customer financial information to those employees with a business reason for knowing such information.  Our employees are trained to understand the importance of customer financial privacy and to properly handle confidential information.  Our employees have been trained and understand that customer information is considered private and privileged and is to be used solely for the purpose of providing our customers with the finest service possible.  Breaches of customer privacy are considered serious employee misconduct and may result in disciplinary measures, which may include termination of the employee.



 Protection of Information Via Established Security Procedures:

We safeguard information according to our established security policy and procedures.  In this regard, we have implemented procedures and technological internal controls designed for this purpose and include the following:

  • We update and test our technology on a regular basis in order to improve the protection of our customer information;
  • When the bank conducts business with third parties, it requires its vendors and suppliers to maintain similar standards of conduct regarding the privacy of personally identifiable customer information provided to them.  Use of this information provided is strictly limited to providing the services we have asked them to perform; and
  • We maintain policies about the proper physical security of workplaces and records.  Our physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards comply with federal regulations regarding the protection of customer information.


 Restrictions on the Disclosure of Account Information:

We do not reveal specific nonpublic information about your accounts or other personally identifiable data with unaffiliated parties unless:

  • You request or authorize it;
  • The information is provided to help complete a transaction initiated by you;
  • The information is provided to a reputable credit bureau or similar information reporting agency; or
  • The disclosure is otherwise lawfully permitted or required. 


Providing Privacy Information to Customers and Responding to Inquiries:

Non-Public Personal Information and Former Customers:


We do not disclose non-public personal information about our customers or former customers to anyone, except as permitted by law.  

Tips to Help Protect Customer Information

Assistance to Victims of Identity Theft 

If you, our customer, suspect that someone has had unauthorized access to your account with us, or access to your personal identifying information such as your Social Security Number or credit card information, please notify your Commercial State Bank service representative immediately so we can take action to protect you.  In addition, you should also report the crime to your local law enforcement agency and to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).  To speak with a trained FTC telephone counselor, call toll-free 1-877-IDTheft (1-877-438-4338).



 COMPLAINTS

 Commercial State Bank is chartered under the laws of the State of Texas and by state law is subject to regulatory oversight by the Texas Department of Banking.  Any consumer wishing to file a complaint against Commercial State Bank should contact the Texas Department of Banking.

Commercial State Bank also engages in the business of selling travelers checks as an agent for American Express Traveler's Cheques, which company is licensed under the laws of the State of Texas and is subject to regulatory oversight by the Texas Department of Banking.
